In TCM, Xia Ku Cao is used according to pattern differentiation for Liver fire, phlegm-fire nodules, and upward-flaming fire patterns. In Western herbalism, Prunella is used for sore throat, mouth ulcers, wound healing, and immune support. While both traditions use the same species, the parts used, preparation methods, and therapeutic frameworks differ significantly.
